How we use cookies

What each kind of cookie on this site does, and how to change your choices. Consent is collected by our ad partner's consent tool; you can reopen it below.

Your cookie settings

Consent on this site is collected by our ad partner's consent tool, the box that appears on your first visit. Open it again to review or change your choices for analytics and advertising at any time.

Essential cookies

Always on

These keep the site secure and remember lightweight settings such as preferred measurement units and the cookie choices you made in the consent tool. They are required for the calculators to function.

Analytics cookies

We use Google Analytics 4 with anonymised IP addresses to understand which guides and tools families use most. This helps us prioritise improvements. These cookies are only loaded after you give consent.

Advertising cookies

We show ads through Journey by Mediavine to keep the guide free to use. Mediavine and its advertising partners may set cookies to serve ads, limit how often you see the same ad, and measure whether an ad worked. With consent, these may be used to personalise the ads you see based on your previous browsing; without it, ads are shown non-personalised.

Third-party embeds

Interactive maps (Leaflet/OpenStreetMap) may set their own cookies. We only embed trusted partners and minimise third-party scripts wherever possible.

Your rights

You can change your choices at any time with the button above. If you refuse analytics cookies, we will not track your usage. Essential cookies cannot be disabled as they are required for basic functionality.
