Across the 34 parks we track in France — 1162 rides in total — here is how the numbers fall. Every figure is counted from the ride records behind this site, not estimated.
- 893 of 1162 rides (77%) are open to a child of 100cm.
- 565 rides (49%) let a shorter child ride if an adult goes with them.
- 436 rides carry no minimum height at all, with an adult where one is required.
- The most common minimum is 90cm, used on 184 rides.
- 135 rides publish an upper height limit as well as a lower one.
- 13 rides have no height published by the park; we mark those rather than guess.
How height rules work at French theme parks
Learn four phrases and French signage becomes easy
French parks state restrictions in a consistent grammar. Accessible dès 1m or taille minimum 1m is the minimum height to ride at all. Accès libre à partir de 1m30 is the height at which a child may ride alone. Accompagné d'un adulte marks the band in between, where an adult must ride too. Interdit en dessous de 1m is the hard floor — nobody shorter boards, adult or not. Read them in that order and any French ride sign resolves quickly.
Heights are written in metres, and often measured in shoes
Where a UK park writes 120cm, a French park writes 1,20 m — with a comma, not a point. Several parks also state that the measurement is taken *chaussé*, with shoes on, at the park entrance. If your child is borderline, that detail can work in your favour, but do not count on it: plan for the lower bracket and treat clearing the threshold as a bonus.
Small children often get in free
Free admission below one metre is far more common in France than in the UK, and several of the parks in this guide advertise it directly. It changes the economics of a visit with a toddler: the question stops being whether the ticket is worth it and becomes simply how many rides the rest of the family can enjoy. Check the park's own ticket page — the threshold is usually 1m but occasionally 90cm or three years old.
The access profile is close to the UK's
French parks track the UK closely on what a small child can actually ride, and the commonest minimum is again 90cm. The difference is at the top end: French parks lean slightly more on the accompanied-adult concession being written into the ride's own signage rather than a park-wide policy, so it is worth reading each ride rather than assuming the rule you saw at the last one carries over.
A shorter season than you might expect
Most French parks open in April and close in early November, and many run weekends only in the shoulder months, with some closing midweek entirely outside the summer holidays. A handful of the larger parks add Halloween and Christmas seasons. Check the park's *calendrier* before booking travel — a park being open on a given date is not the same as every ride running.
