How height rules work at UAE theme parks
Small children have materially less to do here
This is the clearest difference in our whole dataset. In the UK and France, roughly three quarters of all rides are open to a child of 100cm. In the UAE it is around half. The commonest minimum height in the Emirates is 120cm, against 90cm in both European countries. If you are travelling with a toddler, a UAE park will give you a shorter list than the equivalent European one — worth knowing before you buy tickets for a family of mixed heights.
Fewer second chances with an adult
The second half of that gap matters more than the first. In the UK almost half of all rides let a shorter child ride with a responsible adult; in the UAE it is closer to one ride in five. So where a European park often gives a borderline child a way on, a UAE park is more likely to simply turn them away regardless of who is with them. Indoor, air-conditioned and open all year
The UAE's parks are built around the climate rather than a summer season. Many of the biggest are fully indoor and run year-round, which makes them a genuine option in July and August when outdoor European parks would be unbearable — and makes the winter months, when outdoor parks in the Emirates are at their best, the busiest time to visit. Opening hours shift during Ramadan, so check before travelling.
Maximum heights and waterpark rules
UAE rides publish an upper height limit slightly more often than European ones, and the region's many waterparks add a second layer: alongside height, slides commonly require swimming ability, a minimum or maximum weight, or a rider-per-raft limit. A child who clears the height for a slide may still be turned away on one of those, so check the ride's own board at the top of the tower, not just the park's height chart.
Plan around 120cm
If there is one number to measure against before a UAE trip, it is 120cm. That is the commonest threshold across the region and the point at which the bulk of a park's line-up opens up. Below it, concentrate on the parks and zones built for younger children; above it, most of what a park advertises becomes available, with 140cm remaining the line for the biggest thrill rides.
