The Short Answer

For babies and children under 100cm, Disneyland Paris wins clearly. Most of its rides have no height restriction at all, so a toddler can go on 30 rides at 90cm against 22 at Parc Astérix.

From 100cm the two parks are close, and Parc Astérix offers more real coasters and water rides to a 100cm child. From 130cm Parc Astérix pulls ahead, because its biggest coasters are the main reason to go.

The rest of this guide shows where each park's rides sit by height, what your child can actually do at each one, and a verdict for every height band.

How We Counted

Our data covers 38 rides at Disneyland Paris across both parks, Disneyland Park and Disney Adventure World (formerly Walt Disney Studios Park), and 41 rides at Parc Astérix. A ride counts at a given height if your child can board it, alone or with an adult. Shows, parades and character meetings are not counted, and both parks have plenty.

One thing to keep in mind for Disney: a one-park ticket only covers one of the two parks. Several of the rides counted here, including Ratatouille: The Adventure, Crush's Coaster and the new Frozen Ever After, are in Disney Adventure World.

The two ladders have very different shapes. Disney starts high and barely moves: 28 of its rides have no height restriction, so most of the park is open from birth, and only a handful of rides are added as your child grows. Parc Astérix starts low and climbs in big steps at 80cm, 90cm, 100cm and 120cm.

Under 100cm: What Each Park Offers

Disneyland Paris

A child of any height can ride 28 attractions. That includes the gentle classics (It's a Small World, Peter Pan's Flight, Dumbo the Flying Elephant, Mad Hatter's Tea Cups, Casey Jr. - le Petit Train du Cirque and Le Carrousel de Lancelot), plus Pirates of the Caribbean, Phantom Manor and Buzz Lightyear Laser Blast. Ratatouille: The Adventure, Spider-Man W.E.B. Adventure and the two rides that opened in March 2026, Frozen Ever After and Raiponce Tangled Spin, also have no minimum height.

At 81cm two more open: Toy Soldiers Parachute Drop and Autopia. Autopia needs an adult in the car until 132cm.

After that, nothing new opens until 102cm. A child of 85cm and a child of 100cm can ride exactly the same rides at Disney, 30 of them.

Parc Astérix

Only 4 attractions have no restriction at all, and they are walk-throughs and playgrounds: L'Aventure Astérix and three play areas. Five gentle rides take babies from 50cm with an adult: Epidemaïs Croisières, La Rivière d'Elis, Les Petits Drakkars, Le Carrousel de César and Le Petit Train.

At 80cm five more open, including the Hydrolix water ride, Lavomatix and Les Petites Chaises Volantes. At 90cm the park's children's area fills out with Les Espions de César (an interactive dark ride, with an adult), SOS Tournevis, Les Chaudrons, L'Escadrille des As and Les Petits Chars Tamponneurs, bringing the total to 22.

Verdict under 100cm: Disneyland Paris. It has far more for a toddler, and the rides are themed to characters young children already know. Parc Astérix is perfectly doable at 90cm, but your child will see much of the park they can't ride yet.

100cm to 119cm: The Closest Band

Parc Astérix at 100cm

This is Parc Astérix's biggest single step. At 100cm a child can ride 31 rides, up from 22 a centimetre earlier. The new rides include two coasters, Pégase Express (with an adult until 130cm) and Cétautomatix, Europe's first family spinning coaster, which opened in 2025. There are also four water rides, all with an adult: Menhir Express, Romus et Rapidus, La Revanche des Pirates - Le Grand Splatch and the new La Descente du Nil. Le Vol d'Icare, L'Hydre de Lerne and Chez Gyrofolix complete the set.

Disneyland Paris at 102cm and 107cm

Disney's thresholds sit at 102cm, not 100cm, which catches out a lot of families. At 102cm three rides open: Big Thunder Mountain, The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror and Star Tours: The Adventures Continue. Crush's Coaster follows at 107cm. That takes a 110cm child to 34 rides.

None of these four has a with-adult option, so 102cm means 102cm. If your child measures 100cm or 101cm, Big Thunder Mountain is still off the table.

Riding with an adult

At Parc Astérix, most rides below 120cm need a parent alongside. Several of the 100cm rides only let children ride alone from 130cm or 140cm. Disney's height rules, by contrast, have a separate with-adult tier only on Autopia. If you have two young children and one adult, the Parc Astérix rules can shape your day: on those rides, each child needs a grown-up beside them.

Verdict at 100cm to 119cm: close. At exactly 100cm or 101cm, Parc Astérix offers more and bigger rides (31 against 30). From 102cm, Disney edges ahead on count, 34 against 31 at 110cm. Choose on what your child is excited about: Big Thunder Mountain and Tower of Terror, or splashy rafts and a first spinning coaster.

120cm and Up

At 120cm both parks are nearly fully open. Disney adds Star Wars Hyperspace Mountain, Avengers Assemble: Flight Force and RC Racer, leaving only Indiana Jones and the Temple of Peril (140cm). Parc Astérix adds Tonnerre 2 Zeus, the wooden coaster, plus La Trace du Hourra (with an adult), Discobélix, La Galère, La Tour de Numérobis and the new L'Envol d'Ibis.

From 130cm, Parc Astérix is the stronger thrill park: Toutatis and OzIris open at 130cm, then Goudurix and Le Cheval de Troie at 140cm. At 140cm a child can ride all 41 rides at Parc Astérix and all 38 at Disney.

Verdict at 120cm+: a tie at 120cm, then Parc Astérix for thrill-seekers.

The Practical Differences

Price. At the time of our last check, a one-day gate ticket at Disneyland Paris was €129 for adults and €120 for children for one park, or €154 and €145 for both parks, with parking at €30. Parc Astérix's flexible ticket was €68 for adults and €59 for children aged 3 to 11, with parking at €20. Under-3s were free at both. Both parks are usually cheaper booked online in advance, so check current prices before you buy.

Getting there. Disneyland Paris has its own RER A station at Marne-la-Vallée/Chessy, about 40 minutes from central Paris. Parc Astérix is 35km north of Paris off the A1. There are shuttle buses from Paris and Charles de Gaulle airport, but a car is easier.

Language. Disney's attractions and shows run in French and English. At Parc Astérix, shows are mainly in French and ride instructions are in French with pictograms. This matters less for toddler rides than for the shows.

Time. Most visitors need two or three days to cover both Disney parks properly.

Can You Do Both?

If you are in Paris for several days with children of different heights, doing both works well: Disney for the toddler-friendly days, Parc Astérix for a day when the older child gets the coasters. Our height planner shows what each of your children can ride at both parks. For more French parks with good toddler line-ups, see our French theme parks height guide for young children.
