Peppa Pig World vs Thomas Land — Which Is Better for Your Toddler?
Peppa Pig World at Paultons Park has 8 rides (7 with no restriction). Thomas Land at Drayton Manor has 16+ rides. We compared both on rides, heights, prices, and what age suits each best.

The Two Big Names for Toddlers
If you have a child under 5 in the UK, you've probably considered both Peppa Pig World (at Paultons Park) and Thomas Land (at Drayton Manor). They're the two most popular themed areas designed specifically for toddlers.
We compared them on what actually matters: how many rides, what heights are needed, what it costs, and which one your child will enjoy more.

Peppa Pig World: Fewer Rides, Zero Stress
Peppa Pig World has 8 dedicated rides, and 7 of them have no height restriction at all. The only ride with a restriction is George's Dinosaur Adventure (85cm with adult, 110cm alone).
The rides:
- Peppa's Big Balloon Ride — gentle observation tower
- Grandpa Pig's Little Train — scenic train ride
- Grandpa Pig's Boat Trip — gentle boat ride
- Daddy Pig's Car Ride — driving ride
- Windy Castle — gentle bouncing ride
- Miss Rabbit's Helicopter Flight — gentle flying
- The Queen's Flying Coach Ride — gentle flying
- Grampy Rabbit's Sailing Club — boat ride
Plus 3 play areas:
- Muddy Puddles splash park (bring a change of clothes)
- Mr Potato's Adventure Playground
- George's Spaceship Indoor Playzone
Every ride is gentle intensity. There's nothing here that will frighten a nervous 2-year-old. The theming is spot-on — your child will recognise everything from the show.
The wider park matters. Peppa Pig World is inside Paultons Park, which has 30 rides accessible under 100cm — the second-highest in the UK. When your child finishes Peppa, there are 22 more rides waiting: Cobra (a gentle coaster with no restriction), Ghostly Manor (the 2025 dark ride), Seal Falls, Boulder Dash, and more.

Thomas Land: More Rides, More Variety
Thomas Land has 16+ dedicated rides and attractions, making it roughly twice the size of Peppa Pig World. Eight rides have no restriction, and 4 more open from 90cm.
No-restriction rides:
- Lady's Carousel
- Rocking Bulstrode
- Sodor Classic Cars
- Winston's Whistle Stop Tour
- Diesel's Locomotive Mayhem
- Blue Mountain Engines
- Bertie Bus
- James and the Red Balloon
From 90cm (with or without adult):
- Troublesome Trucks Runaway Coaster — Thomas Land's star ride, a family coaster
- Harold's Helicopter Tours
- Jeremy Jet's Flying Academy
- Flynn's Fire Rescue
From 100cm:
- Cranky's Drop Tower (max 130cm)
- Terence's Driving School
Thomas Land has more variety — there's a coaster (Troublesome Trucks), a drop tower (Cranky's), helicopters, planes, and driving rides. For a child who loves Thomas, the sheer volume of themed attractions is impressive. It's billed as Europe's largest Thomas & Friends attraction.
The wider park adds more. Drayton Manor has 18 rides total under 100cm, including the non-Thomas rides: Polperro Express, the Carousel, Gold Rush (a new multi-directional coaster from 100cm), and Accelerator.

Age-by-Age Breakdown
Under 2 (any height)
Peppa Pig World: 7 rides + 3 play areas. More than enough for a toddler's attention span. The play areas fill gaps between rides.
Thomas Land: 8 rides. Slightly more rides, but no dedicated play area beyond the water splash zone.
Winner: Peppa Pig World — the play areas make the difference at this age.
Age 2-3 (around 85-95cm)
Peppa Pig World: 8 rides (George's Dinosaur Adventure opens at 85cm with adult) + wider park rides at 90cm like Cat-O-Pillar Coaster and Raging River Ride.
Thomas Land: 12 rides (the 90cm rides now accessible) + wider park rides like Polperro Express.
Winner: Thomas Land — the 90cm rides (especially Troublesome Trucks coaster) add genuine excitement that Peppa's gentle rides don't match.
Age 3-5 (around 95-105cm)
Peppa Pig World: All 8 Peppa rides + wider park total of 30 rides.
Thomas Land: All Thomas rides including Cranky's Drop Tower and Terence's Driving School at 100cm + wider park total of 18 rides.
Winner: Paultons Park overall — 30 rides vs 18 rides at this height. Your child has likely moved beyond needing everything to be Peppa or Thomas themed.
The Practical Stuff
Getting There
- Paultons Park: Hampshire, near Southampton. About 90 minutes from London.
- Drayton Manor: Staffordshire, near Birmingham. About 2 hours from London, but only 20 minutes from Birmingham.
Cost for a Family of 4
| | Paultons Park | Drayton Manor | |---|---|---| | 2 adults + 2 children | £160 | £150 (or £130 family) | | Parking | Free | £6 | | Total | £160 | £136-156 |
Drayton Manor is slightly cheaper, especially with the family ticket. Both parks offer online discounts — always book in advance.
Crowds
Peppa Pig World gets extremely busy during school holidays and weekends. Arrive at park opening and head straight there. By 11am, queue times build significantly.
Thomas Land is busy too but spreads crowds more effectively across its larger footprint. The wider Drayton Manor park also draws older visitors away from Thomas Land.
The Verdict
Choose Peppa Pig World if:
- Your child is under 2 and you want zero height stress (7 no-restriction rides + play areas)
- Your child is a Peppa fan (the theming is perfect)
- You want the best wider park for small children (30 rides under 100cm)
- You're coming from London or the south
Choose Thomas Land if:
- Your child is 2-4 and wants more ride variety (16+ attractions)
- Your child loves Thomas (Europe's largest Thomas & Friends area)
- You want a first "real" ride experience (Troublesome Trucks coaster from 90cm)
- You're in the Midlands or the north
- You're on a tighter budget (family ticket + free parking vs Paultons)
The honest answer: Both are excellent. You can't go wrong with either. If your child loves both characters equally, Paultons Park edges it because the wider park offers significantly more rides under 100cm (30 vs 18). But if your child is Thomas-obsessed, the sheer scale of Thomas Land — 16+ attractions all in one themed area — is hard to beat.
