Spanish Water Parks With Kids: Heights, Weight Limits and Rules

The Short Answer

• Under 100cm: look for pools and lazy rivers open at any height with an adult, children's areas with no minimum, and small slides from 80 or 90cm. Western Water Park, Aquadiver, the Aquopolis parks at Villanueva and Torrevieja, Caribe Aquatic Park, Aquabrava and Guadalpark all have several.
• 100 to 119cm: some parks open family slides in this range. Aquarama sets most of its family slides at 110cm, Aquavelis has slides at 95, 110 and 115cm, and Siam Park opens three at 110cm.
• 120cm: the line for most main slides. At Aqua Natura Benidorm nothing with a confirmed height rule opens below it, and at Hidropark Alcúdia only the Kids Zone does.
• 140cm and over: the steepest drops, some with a minimum age as well.
• Season: most Spanish water parks are seasonal, open mainly in summer. Siam Park opens every day of the year, and the two Canary Islands Aqualands, Maspalomas and Costa Adeje, open every day.

The tables count every attraction open to a child alone or with an adult. Where a park publishes no height, often for a wave pool or a spa, the attraction shows "Height not listed" and never counts as open.

How Height Rules Work at Spanish Water Parks

Spanish water parks use the same two numbers as theme parks: a lower height with an adult and a higher one alone, as our with-adult vs alone guide explains. Water parks add a third pattern, any height with an adult. Many pools and lazy rivers have no minimum when an adult goes in with the child, and set a height only for going alone:

• At Caribe Aquatic Park, Barracudas and El Torrente take any height with an adult, and children alone from 100cm.
• At Aqualand Maspalomas, Río del Pirata, the lazy river, takes any height with an adult, and riders alone from 120cm.
• At Guadalpark, the wave pool, the Jacuzzi and Blue Lagoon are open below 120cm with an adult.
• At Aquabrava, the wave pool, the Rio Tranquilo lazy river, the Aquaroc climbing pool and the relax pools take children under 120cm with an adult, as do the Colorado, Rio Bravo and Mississipi slides.

Under 100cm

Below 100cm it's mostly pools, rivers and children's areas, plus some small slides:

• Aquabrava: Pirate Island and Tropic Island from 80cm, and Octospeed from 90cm with an adult.
• Agua Mágica: Mini Paraíso from 80cm.
• Guadalpark: Mini Park Infantil is for children up to 90cm. Mini Park takes under-90s with an adult, and children from 90cm alone.
• Parque Warner Beach: ¡Todos al agua! and Baby Olas have no minimum, with an adult compulsory for every child. Río Loco, the lazy river, is from 90cm with an adult.
• Aqualand Maspalomas: Adventure Land, with eight slides, is open from 90cm up to 150cm.
• Aquarama: Cala Pirata from 90cm, always with an adult.
• Aquadiver: most of its slides and play areas are open from 80cm, among them Tapu Tapu River, Niagara and Aqua Racer, and the Kid's Bay slides take children from 80cm up to 150cm.
• Western Water Park: the rules chart lists no height requirement for its pools, Wild River, the body slides Tatanka, Tomahawk and Tijuana Twins, and the group raft slides, and its Kidzworld areas have no minimum.
• The Aquopolis parks: at Villanueva, Torrevieja and Cullera the pools are open below 100cm, at most of them with an adult. Río Rápido at Villanueva, Black Hole and Rapids at Torrevieja, and Black Hole and Amazonia River at Cullera are open from 90cm with an adult.

100 to 119cm

This is where the first proper slides open:

• Aquarama sets most of its family slides at 110cm, including Black Hole, Boa, Dunas Surf, both Enrollados slides and Río Aventura.
• Aquavelis has Mini Foam and Mini Kamikaze from 95cm, three Kid slides at 110cm, and Multipistas, Tobogán Colina and Espiral at 115cm. Magic Hole and Río Rápido are from 115cm with an adult, who must be over 1.40m tall and at least 13.
• Guadalpark has Pistas Blandas and Zig Zag at 100cm, Mamut from 100cm with an adult, Rapids at 110cm and Black Hole from 110cm with an adult.
• Parque Warner Beach has Aquaman from 107cm with an adult (alone from 122cm), and five slides at 110cm, among them Batman: La Sombra del Murciélago and Superman: El Vuelo.
• Aqualand Maspalomas has Tukakame at 100cm, Banzai, Misol-ha and Hurakan from 100cm with an adult, and Anaconda from 110cm with an adult.
• Siam Park opens Naga Racer, Mekong Rapids and Patong Rapids at 110cm.

The 120cm Slide Threshold

120cm is the number on most main slides. The Aqualand parks set nearly all their main slides there, and so does Western Water Park for its seven Adrenaline Fun slides. Every slide at Aqua Natura Benidorm that lists a height lists 1.20m, and the park says children under 120cm can't ride them even with an adult. Hidropark Alcúdia lists 120cm on all six slides and on three children's areas, leaving the Kids Zone for younger children.

Here's how three parks open up as a child grows. At Aqua Natura Benidorm, nothing with a confirmed height rule opens until 120cm:

Siam Park opens in steps, at 110cm and then at 125cm, the height for Saifa, Singha, Kinnaree, Dragon, The Vulcano, The Giant and Jungle Snakes:

Beyond 120cm. A few slides need 140cm or more, and some add a minimum age: Tower of Power at Siam Park (149cm and age 12), Gravity at Aqualand Costa Adeje (140cm and age 12), Zero Gravity at Aqualand Bahía de Cádiz, King Khajuna and Ciclón Tropical at Caribe Aquatic Park, and Kamikaze at Aquavelis (all 140cm).

Children's Areas With a Maximum Height

Many children's areas have a ceiling instead of a floor, to keep bigger children out. These are the Spanish attractions with a maximum height of 130cm or less, theme parks included:

At Western Water Park, La Ponderosa, Coyote Park and Daky Park stop at 120cm, the same height at which its main slides open. More areas stop at 140cm, including Skull Bay and Polynesia at Aqualand Maspalomas and Children's Paradise at Aqualand Torremolinos. Aquavelis adds age limits too: Zona Infantil is for children up to age 8 and AquaSplash up to 10. Weight Limits: Per Rider or Per Float

Water parks publish two kinds of weight figure:

• Per rider. Siam Park lists 120kg on most slides, and 110kg on a single float at Jungle Snakes and The Giant. Parque Warner Beach lists 114kg on Aquaman and Black Manta and 133kg on its other slides. Some limits are lower: 85kg on Niágara at Aqua Natura Benidorm, 90kg on Boomerang and Splash at Aquopolis Costa Daurada, and 80kg on the Tornado slide of Enrollados at Aquarama.
• Per float or boat. Cyclón at Aqualandia lists 200 to 320kg per float, El Torrente at Caribe Aquatic Park 360kg per boat, and Magic Oval at Aquopolis Costa Daurada 275kg for everyone sharing the float. These are totals for everyone on board, not a limit per person.

A few slides set a minimum too: Wonder Woman: El Lazo Mágico at Parque Warner Beach needs a rider of at least 42kg. Western Water Park and Aqualand Maspalomas publish no weight limits.

Swimming Rules and Life Jackets

• Aqualandia says you need to be able to swim to use every attraction. Children who can't swim may only go past the first line of Niágara and the wave pool with an adult.
• Aquavelis asks riders to swim on several slides, the wave pool and Rosco Bay, and Guadalpark on Zig Zag and Kamikaze.
• Caribe Aquatic Park: riders on Bahía Pirata must be able to swim, and a life jacket is compulsory from 120 to 140cm.
• Siam Park: riders under 110cm wear a life jacket on Mai Thai River, and life jackets are included with the ticket.
• Aquabrava: children who can't swim well must use a flotation aid and be watched by their parents.
• Aquopolis Villanueva and Cullera: children under 120cm wear a life jacket in the wave pool, and at Villanueva they also go with an adult and must be able to swim. At Aquopolis Torrevieja, a life jacket is compulsory at Waves Beach.

Age Rules for the Whole Park

Many parks set an age below which children can't be in the park without an adult, which matters for teenagers going with friends:

• Under 14: Parque Warner Beach, Aquabrava, Agua Mágica, Aqua Natura Benidorm, Aquadiver, Water World, and the Aquopolis parks at Costa Daurada, Villanueva, Torrevieja and Cullera.
• Under 16: Aqualand Torremolinos, Aqualand Bahía de Cádiz and Guadalpark.
• Other rules: at Aqualandia, under-13s must stay with an adult over 18. Aquavelis may refuse entry to under-13s without an adult, and Aquarama asks under-12s to stay with an adult unless one signs an authorisation.

Some rides add their own: AquaXjump at Aquabrava has a minimum age of 16.

Free Entry for Small Children

At our last check, most of these parks let the youngest children in free, but the cut-off differs:

• By age: 0 to 2 at Siam Park, Western Water Park, Aqualand El Arenal and Hidropark Alcúdia, and 0 to 3 at Aqualandia and Aqua Natura Benidorm.
• By height: under 80cm at Aquabrava, Aquadiver and Water World, under 90cm at Guadalpark, up to 90cm at Agua Mágica, under 95cm at Aquavelis, under 1m at Parque Warner Beach and the four Aquopolis parks, and up to 1.10m at Aquarama.
• By age or height: 0 to 2 or under 90cm at Aqualand Maspalomas, Aqualand Costa Adeje and Aqualand Bahía de Cádiz.

When the Parks Open

Siam Park is open every day of the year, and Aqualand Maspalomas and Aqualand Costa Adeje open every day too. Most of the others are seasonal: Aquabrava from early June to mid-September, Aquavelis daily from June to September, and Hidropark Alcúdia from April to the end of October. Several, including Aqualandia and Western Water Park, open only on the dates in their calendars, so check before you travel.

What height do you need for water slides in Spain?

Usually 120cm for the main slides, and 125cm for most of Siam Park's. Some parks have family slides from 95 to 110cm, such as Aquarama, Aquavelis and Guadalpark. The biggest drops need 140cm or more.

Can toddlers go to Spanish water parks?
